Why does this website exist?

Bonaire is a small island with strong community ties. People know each other: through school, through church, through family. The island is known from the outside as paradise, 'dushi boneiru', but that makes personal struggles all the more invisible. The Roman Catholic church plays a central role in daily life for many. All of this can make the threshold to seek help feel daunting.

Yet there are people on Bonaire wrestling with these questions: young people, parents, professionals and believers. Many Bonaireans study or work for a time in the Netherlands or Curaçao; that transition too brings questions about identity. Starting the conversation can feel hard when you're afraid that 'the whole island will know'.

This website is here for all of them. It is an independent, anonymous information platform, not connected to any organization or church.
